Overview

Please join us for a round table discussion with Chris Newsom, Advisor to Stakeholder Democracy Network in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Newsom will give an update of events in the western Niger Delta and through the lens of SDN’s community level peace building and advocacy experience, share what he sees as the challenges and opportunities for development and peace in light of the current conflict.

Chris Newsom has been working with the Stakeholders Democracy Network (SDN) as it has evolved over the past two years in its work with partner organisations in the Niger Delta. He first travelled to Nigeria in 1998 and has been based predominantly in Port Harcourt since early 2003. Presently the emphasis of his work is to help SDN in developing strategy and broaden SDN's engagement with policy on the region.
